Will you work with someone like me?
If you are a senior leader (C-Level, SVP, VP or equivalent) in your field, eager to grow and develop yourself into an even better leader, ready to create a remarkable life, and to lead others to solve some of the world’s most pressing problems, then let’s talk. Many of my clients appreciate my entrepreneurial style to co-create what they are looking for. Is your work global and strategic in scope? Are your increased responsibilities challenging you, holding you back or keeping you stuck? Let’s talk.
What industries or companies do you specialize in?
Rather than specializing in industries or companies, I specialize in maximizing your leadership capabilities. I have worked with hundreds of leaders in similar roles in various industries, from technology to design to financial services and healthcare. You are the subject matter expert. I bring the human discovery component to the mix.
What qualifies you to coach me?
Since I started my business in 2001, I have guided hundreds of clients in thousands of coaching hours through a process of transformation to better leadership of self and others. As a daughter of a CEO, I was exposed to leadership conversation from the get-go. My degrees are in Journalism and Public Relations from USC and in International Management with an emphasis in Marketing from Thunderbird. In addition, I am a Professional Certified Coach through the International Coach Federation, which requires me to continue my education on an ongoing basis. I have lived and worked in three countries and continually work with global and international clients. But my best education comes from my life experiences — leading others in a corporate setting while working for Kodak in the 80s and early 90s; overseeing seven remodels and two newly built homes; holding Board positions at my children’s schools; parenting my children who are about to be college graduates; and of course from coaching my clients. Read what they have to say about their coaching experience with me here.
What can I expect as a result of your coaching?
First and foremost you can expect improved clarity about what currently is and what you want. You might feel so overwhelmed by all the balls you are juggling that it seems difficult to get above it all. As a result, you might get to know yourself in a whole new way. Improved clarity will also lead to improved focus. Spending a little time on a lot of things is less effective than spending a lot of time on what matters most. By providing a different perspective than what you have received in the past, I focus on raising your awareness for better decision making. Not deciding is only an option if it’s intentional. The coaching is therefore very action- and result-oriented. Combine this new awareness with new habits and actions and you will see your leadership of yourself and others improve. All of this lays the foundation for more fulfillment in your work and in your life. Satisfaction guaranteed. For more benefits of working with an executive coach check out this page.
What does a coaching engagement with you look like?
First we go through a guided process of getting to know each other on a deep level and take inventory of the status quo. Next we imagine what you want things to look like in your life and in your role as a leader. And lastly we strategize best ways to achieve your desired outcome while overcoming roadblocks of various kinds.
Typically we will start with a six-month engagement, but depending on the scope the engagement could easily last a year or more.
How do you coach?
Most of my coaching is via telephone. I find speaking on the phone gives enough anonymity to speak freely and enough intimacy to be mindful and present. I make a point of meeting my clients, who are located in various regions of the world, in person early during our engagement.
What is your style?
Clients describe my style as action-oriented and compassionate. Life happens and we’ll incorporate every aspect of your being, from work to health to location to relationships. I am the trusted, objective sounding board that you can’t find among family, friends and co-workers. Together we will take into account that you are not leaving family behind when you come to work and vice versa.
How do you get compensated?
About half of my business comes through partner coaching organizations, such as Coachsource, which sources coaches for their clients. Payment is then negotiated through the coaching organization and your company. If coaching is provided by your company, the cost is zero for you. But your company is then an additional stakeholder to consider in the coaching process. However, it never hurts to ask to have your company pay.
The other half of my business comes through personal referrals and past clients. Payment is then negotiated directly between you and me and based on services to be provided. Yes, it will come out of your pocket, but you are also in total control.
As with any service, please consider the tradeoffs.
Where are you located?
As an empty nester, I am proudly location independent. My main base of operation is in the Monterey Bay area, but I am frequently operating from different locations in the world. My clients have one phone number and one email address where they can rely on reaching me, regardless of where I am.
How can I get started?
Once you have done all the research to feel comfortable to reach out, simply send me an email at db@dbcoach.com stating PLEASE CONTACT ME in the subject line.
Write a paragraph about what you are looking for and why you are reaching out. I will then send you a link, which will allow you to book an initial complimentary coaching session. If we are a good fit, I will guide you through what comes next.
