It’s time to walk the talk. I have decided to share my sustainability journey with you. Here it goes:
What I Am Doing:
• Receiving weekly box with organic fruit and vegetables from
Live Earth Farm, a local community-supported farm since 2017 that doesn’t use plastic packaging
• Planting fruit trees, 20 in 2022
• Upcycling furniture, five pieces in 2022
• Growing worms for composting
• Composting food scraps and shredded paper
• Riding my bike or walking locally to run errands as much as possible
• Installing ultra-high efficiency appliances and toilets to reduce water use
• Using reusable bags to carry groceries (since at least 2017)
• Using reusable vegetable bags for transport
• Using pens with refillable ink for 20 years
• Picking up trash when I am walking
• Upcycling clothes and linens
• Reducing flying by at least half (since 2020)
• Reducing purchase of products packaged in plastic
What I Am Not Doing:
• Purchasing new or used apparel (since September 2021)
• Purchasing plastic water bottles (since 2015)
• Drawing electricity from electric grid at home after installing solar panels (in 2018)
